Jem Cresswell is a photographer & director based in Sydney, Australia, working worldwide.

Growing up in South Australia, Jem spent his youth with camera in hand, exploring the wild desert coastline of the Great Australian Bight, surfing, diving and camping with friends. Jem fell in love with being enveloped by the natural world and the vibrancy of life underwater. It just seemed instinctive to capture what he experienced. In 2008, Jem moved to Sydney to build his creative career.

Jem is renowned for capturing beautiful candid lifestyle moments, evocative portraits, sweeping landscapes and awe-inspiring underwater imagery. His devotion to the creative process and emotive interest in his subjects, combined with a masterful eye for composition, technical application and a hardworking attitude have made him a hit with creatives and clients alike.

Whilst pursuing commercial work, Jem has always maintained the importance of time spent focussing on personal exhibition work, continually fuelling his love for the craft.

2020 saw the launch of his first book ‘Giants’, featuring a long term project documenting the awe-inspiring behaviours and undeniable anthropomorphism of the Humpback whale. 2021 saw the release of his documentary short titled ‘Eyre & Sea’, which screened across the globe at festivals including; San Diego International Film Festival, The Ocean Film Festival World Tour, Paris Short Film Festival, Toronto Independent Film Festival and many more.
